I have endured all forms of alopecia from areata (spotty hair loss) to universalis (loss of all hair on the scalp and body). During my childhood, my parents took me to dermatologists in several cities for treatment or, at least, an explanation of why their daughter was losing her hair. Different treatments were tried including the bizarre one of applying "bear grease" to my scalp. Nothing worked. But, since I had the spotty type of hair loss (alopecia areata) during my childhood and teen years, I was able to "get by" without wearing any wigs.

During the last 25 years since I have had alopecia universalis, I’ve tried every wig made to cover my shiny scalp. Some of them worked for awhile, but none of those wigs helped me regain my confidence. Then I found the vacuum-seal hair prosthesis that I’m wearing in the photos on this web page.
